Cabinets can appear quite simple in their aesthetic. Maybe you think that other than changing the handles or knobs, the list of ways to add appeal stops there! Wrong! There is a whole boatload* of small things that can be added, tweaked or changed to help increase the aesthetic appeal of your cabinetry.

*And yes, “boatload” is the official terminology. ;)

ADD MOULDING

Adding some moulding to your cabinets can give it the boost it needs! While the addition of moulding is not a necessity for the function of your cabinetry, it offers a sophisticated, seamless, clean aesthetic that can bring a mature look to your kitchen. The downside is that moulding can be costly, but the class it brings to the space is unmatched.

Crown moulding is a popular choice when it comes to cabinet mouldings. The smooth and exquisite design makes it quite sought-after for increasing kitchen aesthetic. The moulding look is growing in popularity and is becoming more common! Maybe moulding is just what you needed to spice things up!

PAINTING

Painting your cabinets can be a more cost-effective way to completely flip your kitchen around. But note: it isn’t as simple as just painting them. In order to begin painting your cabinets, oodles of prep is involved. Cleaning, sanding, priming… these steps just break the surface of the pre-paint steps involved, but it can be so worth it!

Whether you go for neutrals, earth tones, pastels or a pop of color, the change will be exciting for you and your cabinetry! This aesthetic option is completely customizable. Heck, you could technically paint anything you wanted on them. If polka dots or spirals are your thing, more power to you. Fun fact: not only is it cost effective it can be an additional protective layer on your cabinets as well.

REFACING

Refacing cabinets – like moulding – can also be a more pricey upgrade. Whether you choose to reface the cabinet in its entirety or just the doors, the update your kitchen will receive will surely bring your desired aesthetic to life. Refacing allows you to change the room’s vibe without replacing the cabinets in their entirety. The process of refacing is when the existing cabinet is wrapped in a veneer- or laminate-like material to completely alter the cabinets’ visual appearance.

Why not just paint them? I know…I made it sound so good before! Refacing comes in especially when the desired new look is a natural wood or different-colored wood grain. It is a bit challenging to paint stained wood grain, so refacing becomes the next best option to achieve that natural aesthetic.

Whether you decide to add crown moulding, paint them pink, or reface them with your favorite wood grain, the options are endless and totally custom to you and your desired aesthetic. Get crafty!
