Cabinets are fun, but organizers that go inside the cabinets can be even more fun – see all the influencers and their organizing hacks! It can be stressful to figure out which organizational tools work best and which ones are worth your money, but let’s go through some tips and tools to reduce the anxiety about making it perfect the first time around! It’s no secret that when things are organized and easily accessible that it alleviates some stress and generally just makes us feel better. Getting to that point takes some work, but it is so worth your time.

1. Measuring

Nothing is worse than buying the cute, divided bins that you saw on TikTok, getting all excited to get your life together and… flop, they don’t fit your designated space. For your own sanity, measure the width and length that you need before purchasing! Finding out how many bins per shelf or cabinet is necessary to determine using proper measurements and all! Yes, kitchen organization can be achieved without measuring, but fewer trips to The Container Store and fewer returns make the measuring worth it.

2. Drawers

When planning to organize kitchen drawers, the first one to start with is silverware. If you do not have a kitchen drawer utensil divider, then you need to get one! Dividing the forks, spoons and knives into their own individual compartments is a type of dopamine rush that you need today! It will change your kitchen experience, and add a little happiness to all subsequent meals. This dopamine rush can also be applicable to a secondary utensil drawer: spatulas, tongs, gadgets, etc. All the utensils divided up in their own easily accessible drawer slots makes cooking, finding, putting away, and looking at it much easier.

3. Food

Organizing dry goods into airtight clear containers can give your kitchen a uniformed look in many of your cabinets. Pasta, flour, sugar, etc. can all be stored in affordable, clear containers that keep food fresh, labeled and aesthetically pleasing. Spices can also be transferred into uniform glass jars for a more clean look. If transferring your cumin by funnel is a bit too hard core for your kitchen, try placing your spice container on stair-like shelves. This allows you better access to each spice while sprucing up the look of the cupboard as well.

4. Junk Drawer

A staple in every home is the junk drawer. (Coincidentally… it might actually be the place where you hold extra staples! I digress…) Who’s to say your junk drawer can’t be pretty and functional, too? A small pack of various drawer organizer bins from your preferred retailer can turn your junk drawer from a stressful catastrophe to a place where rubber bands and batteries have a home and where the pen from the dentist goes in a designated area rather than tossed into the abyss.

5. Pots and Pans

Oof. The pots and pans. This one is always a tough topic! The pots and pans are bulky, heavy, oddly shaped! The seemingly impossible-to-organize cupboard even has some options to make it a bit more pleasant. While pots, pans and their lids often do not fit beautifully, many stacking organizers exist with the most popular being the adhesive lid mounting gadget that allows you to store them on the cabinet doors. By adding a scratch resistance barrier (sold online) between each pot/pan, you are free to stack them without fear of scratching the coating, and the glass lids remain up and out of the way.

Go into your organization projects knowing that it does take time and it’s not going to look like an IKEA in your cupboards overnight, but the end result will be worth it! Bins can be expensive if you don’t do a little bit of homework first! Put in some time measuring and thinking through your end goals, and your desired look can be yours for less than you think. Shop around! Bins can be found almost anywhere, and prices vary! While it is a big project at first and can often seem overwhelming, the benefits of an organized life are unmatched!
